The massive walls of the famous Puri’s Jagannath Temple in Odisha required three generations of time and work to brick up. As one of the Char-Dham Pilgrimages, the temple is extremely important to Hindu followers. It also acts as a massive historical edifice that was created in the year 1078, millennia ago. Thousands of people travel to Odisha each year to seek Lord Jagannath’s blessings.

Here are some curious facts about this very famous temple which you might have not heard of

The flag that disobeys the laws of science

Even a child understands that the wind directs the route of any piece of cloth. The same idea applies to everything from your ship’s massive sails to a small flag in your hand; they all follow the same code. However, it appears that the flag affixed to the top of the Jagannath Temple is an exception to the rule. This particular flag flies in the opposite direction of the wind’s direction, despite the lack of scientific evidence to support it.

 A temple with no shadows

Shading is an important consideration while sketching anything. Shading occurs when sunlight shines on one area of the topic while casting a shadow on the other, resulting in the shade. But what if there isn’t a shadow?

The temple is said to cast no shadows at all, at any time of day or from any direction. Could it be a work of art or a message from Lord Jagannath to humanity?

The Mystery Sudarshan Chakra

The Sudarshan Chakra, which sits atop the temple’s pinnacle, has two secrets. The first anomaly is the theory of how a tonne of hard metal got up there without the use of any machinery, relying solely on the strength of the human race at the time.

The second is one that deals with the Chakra’s architectural technique. In every direction you look, the Chakra returns the same expression. It’s as if it was purposefully built to look the same from every angle.

Nothing above God

The sky is the province of the birds. We frequently observe birds sitting, resting, and flying above our heads and on rooftops. However, this area is restricted; not a single bird has been seen flying above the temple dome, and an aeroplane has not been seen hovering above the temple.

Maybe it’s because Lord Jagannath doesn’t want his holy mansion’s view to be obstructed!

Even the beaches don’t dare to make noise

The audibility of the ocean waves is completely lost seconds after you take the first step inside the temple from the Singha Dwara gate. This occurrence is especially noticeable in the evening. This fact, yet again, defies scientific explanation. When you leave the shrine, the sound returns.

According to legend, it was the sister of the two lords, Subhadra Mayi, who yearned for tranquilly within the temple gates. As a result, her wishes were carried out.

Reverse the Breeze

Take any location on Earth; during the day, a breeze from the sea reaches the land, and in the evening, the opposite occurs. The breeze in Puri, on the other hand, has a habit of going in the opposite way. The breeze blows from land to sea during the day and the opposite in the evening.

 No wastage of food

Food waste is considered a bad sign in Hindu mythology, and the  Temple team respects this rule. The daily attendance at the temple ranges from 2,000 to 200,000 people. Surprisingly, none of the Parsadam produced every day goes to waste, not even a mouthful. Is this the result of good management or the Lord’s will?

 Magical Cooking

The priests here keep the ancient process of making Parsadam alive. Seven pots are used as vessels, which are piled on top of one another and cooked with firewood. Surprisingly, the topmost pot is cooked first, followed by the others in the same order!

These facts about the temple might give a challenge to all the scientific knowledge we have it is surely a mystery how these things are even possible as mentioned earlier it is a mystery and will remain the same.
